March 3rd, 2010

Fantasy Flight announces Deathwatch -
the 3rd installment in the Warhammer 40K RPG line.

The third installment in Fantasy Flight Games’ Warhammer 40,000 role-playing game line has been announced with an August 2010 release date.

Deathwatch allows players to play the role of Imperial Space Marines—genetically modified super-soldiers from the highly popular 40K universe of RPG and Miniature games.

Deathwatch will  be completely compatible with both Dark Heresy and Rogue Trader – available now,at Gnome Gmes –  but it is a complete game in its own right and will NOT require any of the earlier material.

Deathwatch RPG arrives in August 2010

Deathwatch focuses on the life-and-death struggles between Space Marines and alien forces working to destroy the Imperium.  Characters are developed from various Space Marine Chapters and thrown together in the newly formed “Deathwatch” where they must cooperate in calndestine “special-forces” style operations that challenge the players to operate without support.

“You will watch in the dark places where evil slumbers. You will hold back the night. You will bring justice and war to the malevolent Xenos. You will annihilate the alien and bring unto them the judgement of Mankind. You stand as the bulwark upon which the Imperium persists, from now until the end of time.”

excerpt from the Deathwatch Apocryphon Oath

Greetings Initiate -

At long last, the time has come to walk a new path and fulfill your destiny. After years of successful, unfailing service in the name of your Chapter, your Primarch, and the Emperor – your exploits and successes have revealed you to be a most worthy candidate. Now that the oath has been spoken and the ritual painting of your power armour is complete, it is time to assume the mantle of service beyond the concerns of your single Chapter, and unlike any you have ever known.

Welcome to the Deathwatch!

Gnome Games helps to bring Christmas to orphange in Naruto Village – Japan

December 18th, 2009

Recently one of the Gnomes – Ms. Jocelyn coordinated a fundraiser effort to send Christmas gifts to an orphanage in Japan.  Through events and a silent auction at Dashio Con the Gnomes were able to send a care package filled with fun and games to the orphanage in the Naruto Village in Japan where American teachers work.  The gifts arrived a short time ago and here is an email we recieved from them:

“Hi Gnome Games, and Daisho-Con,

The orphanage visit was yesterday and it was a great success! In the end we had 23 kids- 5 were transferred out of the orphanage a few days before the visit. We had a fun afternoon of Christmas-themed games and activities, a carolling singalong, snacks and prizes and Santa hats. Everyone had a great time.

The highlight, of course, was the presents. Thanks in no small part to your generous donations, we had enough gifts to make sure that everyone at the orphanage got two or three fun items as well as some more practical gifts like pens and notebooks. The kids loved everything you sent along- the Disney Princess pen cases were an especially big hit, as were the sticker books and dino kits. Just before we left for the day, I overheard two of the boys discussing how they were going to paint their dinosaurs… Kaito-kun favored a more realistic green-and-brown, while Masaya-kun was all about the Rainbowsaurus Rex.

I’m sorry I can’t provide pictures, but the orphanage stuff was very insistent that we not take any. I did see that one of the staff had a camera out now and again, so I’ll try to see if I can get any of those pictures in the next few weeks… if I can, I’ll pass them along.

Once again, thank you very much for your outstanding generosity! There were a lot of smiles at the party yesterday, and the kids were amazed when I told them that many of their presents had come all the way from America. Have a merry Christmas, and I hope that Santa will be as nice to you as you were to these wonderful kids.

Domo arigato gozaimashita!

-Brent”

We take our red hats off to Jocelyn for her willngness and generosity to coordinate this special treat for kids far away.  Thanks to those that donated at Daisho Con as well.

Merry Christmas!
